Yoga instructor Rodney Yee has created two workouts for beginners—one to wake up with in the morning, and another for unwinding before sleep. The routines in this revamped version of an earlier release incorporate many of the same poses, but with the order reversed. Filmed on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Molokai, Yee performs the a.m. sequence on a beach, surrounded by black boulders and gentle surf; Yee's wife, Colleen Saidman, demonstrates the p.m. moves on a platform in the middle of a meadow. Both sessions are designed for novices, but those new to yoga may want to watch, pause, and try out some of the faster-paced sequences before taking on the whole (anyone using blocks for support will want to practice as well, as some of the stretches here suddenly go very deep). Bearing that in mind, these two challenging but accessible workouts provide a nice introduction to yoga practice. Recommended. Aud: P. (H. Seggel)
