Aimed towards the general public, this informal look at the AIDS syndrome, and the need to practice safe sex is hosted by TV personality Morgan Fairchild. Fairchild interviews Dr. Michael Gottlieb, who discovered the AIDS virus, and Dr. Laura Schlessinger, a marriage and family therapist. To date only 30,000 cases of AIDS have been diagnosed, but it is estimated that 2 million Americans are carriers of the disease. The primary focus here is on educating the general public as to the ways in which AIDS is transmitted (there are, for instance, no documented cases in which AIDS was contracted from casual contact: hugging, etc.); the little known fact that the AIDS virus can lie dormant five years before symptoms begin to appear; and the necessity for non-monogamous sexually active people to use condoms, jellies, etc. to protect themselves. (The only drawback of the tape is that Morgan Fairchild's laughter and risqué comments are sometimes out of place; though they do inadvertently reveal more about her personal sex life than she probably realizes.) Recommended. (See RIVER'S EDGE for availability.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
