Selecting and Caring for Your Pet Beagle

Beagles, being small, friendly, and low on the maintenance scale, are currently the fifth most popular dog breed in America. Viewers will learn here that they are equally at home in a condo or in the country, but must be fenced if left outside; otherwise, one good whiff of a wiley wabbit and this hound is on the hunt, unlikely to return (hare today, gone tomorrow). This is basically a feel-good video unencumbered by extensive facts and data, for those who have recently acquired, or are about to buy, a beagle pup. Happy owners attest to the breed's tranquil disposition and unaggressive nature (with 300,000 reported dog bites requiring emergency room treatment in 1997, parents of small children listen up), and a solicitous vet offers expectant owners beagle health and hygiene advice. The video gives proper grooming of the pet a good once over, and beagle training (treats work) is touched on as well. With the exception of a revolting spaghetti-esque heartworm display, and an even more disturbing dog toothbrushing demonstration, this is a good intro to beagle ownership.
