Sexual Harassment: What It Is and How To Handle It

80% of all students are harassed at some time during their school years says student host Katie Gillis at the opening of this program on sexual harassment, and I'm not entirely sure whether she means harassed in the general sense (in which case 80% seems low) or in the sexual sense (in which case 80% seems absurdly high). But once the program leaves the shaky ground of statistics for a series of realistic skits, the believability and usefulness quotient are upped considerably. In five skits, students see a young woman spreading mean and unfounded rumors about a female classmate, a young man being harassed and threatened by classmates because he wears an earring; another young man who is being hounded by a lovestruck young woman, a girlfriend leaving a boyfriend who doesn't want the relationship to end, and another young woman who is harassed by a supervisor at her job. The scenarios are credible, the suggested solutions solid and sensible, and the overall tone of the film serious without being preachy. A good choice, particularly for high school audiences.
