Stavros Mastrogiannis, personal trainer, seems like a nice man with a bland voice, who has a conscientious and serious attitude about weight training, and Shape Up with Stavros tends to reflect his style: informative but a bit dull. After explaining the basics of working with dumbbells and the benefits they provide for weight control when combined with a general exercise program, Stavros has a student demonstrate weight lifting exercises for the back, shoulder, triceps, biceps, lunges, crunches, lower back, and rotator cuff, as well as a complement of stretching exercises and tips on aerobics training. It's hard to find fault with such a simple straightforward approach, so this no-frills tape is recommended, with reservations, for those without similar fare, such as Weight Training Video: Steps to Success (VL-7/93).
