David Page Coffin, associate editor for Threads magazine is the instructor for this intermediate to advanced guide to shirtmaking techniques which will turn a simple shirt or blouse into an elegant, custom-fitted garment. Combining excellent close-up camerawork and eye-catching computer graphics, the program covers making rolled hems, flat-felled seams, armscye seams, plackets, cuffs, and collars. A video companion to Coffin's book Shirtmaking: Developing Skills for Fine Sewing ($29.95), the tape stands alone, but it also makes references to patterns in the book, and therefore might be better handled as a packaged set. Audio and video qualities are, as usual with Taunton Videos, top-notch, and Page is a confidence-building instructor who knows his way around a shirt. Highly recommended, for those who want to deal with the processing headaches. (Available from: Taunton Press, 63 S. Main St., P.O. Box 5506, Newton, CT 06470-5506; (800) 926-8776.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
