Hall of Famer Rick Barry is the host and instructor for this basic introduction to playing better offense in basketball. Beginning with a breakdown of the steps necessary for a good shot, Barry goes on to demonstrate set shots and jump shots before offering a series of offensive moves which are keyed to the position of the defender (he and a student play one-on-one). The tape concludes with Barry's unusual but highly effective underhand free throw. While neither as detailed nor as inspiring as Swish: Shooting by Herb Magee [reviewed in our June 1989 issue], this is still a good program with the added attraction of the name recognition factor for enthusiasts of basketball. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
