Instructor Kin Lam hosts this exhaustingly detailed primer on simplified 10 form taijiquan, or, as most Westerners know it, tai chi. Focusing on “creating a healthier lifestyle,” Lam touts the benefits of the practice—such as relaxation and healing—before segueing into a thorough breakdown of each of the 10 forms, including opening posture, “repulse monkey,” “golden rooster stands on one leg,” and “grasping the peacock's tail.” Each of the moves are painstakingly demonstrated by Lam, and depicted in entirety from front, side, and top camera angles. Also providing examples of simplified and modified combos, as well as a seated option, Lam gives tips on alignment, footwork, breathing, and hand gestures. Bonus features include video testimonials and resources. Simply produced, but sure to appeal to those who want to learn the forms precisely, this is recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)
