Author Wendy Murdoch (Simplify Your Riding) draws upon her educational background in animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, and Feldenkrais (a method of reducing pain and extending movement) to show viewers how to improve their horseback riding posture and balance in Sitting Right on Your Horse (the first in the three-part Simplify Your Riding—Ride Like a Natural series), which features Murdoch helping riders become properly centered in the saddle by using gravity to position their weight (thereby reducing strain on both the rider and the horse). Viewers also learn how to breathe properly and are encouraged to use a fitness ball to practice exercises that will help develop and strengthen riding muscles. Murdoch's demonstrations employ riders of all ages and sizes, and the audiovisual qualities are generally good, considering that the program is filmed outside. The other titles in the series are Time it Right on Your Horse and Get on the Equiball. A fine choice for equestrian collections, this is recommended. Aud: J, H, C, P. (L. Stevens)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
