Sports massage, like a relaxation massage, has it's own special techniques and tricks, which are demonstrated here by expert Leif Grunseth. After a lengthy introduction and explanation of the benefits of sports massage, he brings out Olympian gold medalist Tracie Conforto, and proceeds to knead, jostle, and compress (these are sports massage terms) her buttocks extensively. (I can see how learning these techniques would appeal to the budding athlete in all of us!) The production work is low-budget, with muddy audio and cheapo wipes. On the positive side, there is a nice example of a leg massage that team members can do on themselves or each other, some information on how to handle leg cramps, and a run-through of the differences between pre- and post-event massage. The second tape, which I didn't see, offers sports massage techniques for the upper body. I wonder if Tracie volunteered for that also... Optional. Aud: P. (E. Druda)
