Created by the United States Air Force Center for Excellence in Medical Media, the first three tapes in this comprehensive, up-to-date five-volume pre- and post-natal guide cover individual trimesters, focusing on the changes that occur in the mother's body as well as that of the developing child. Topics include nutrition, exercise, available tests and procedures, health do's and don'ts, childbirth classes, and indications for Cesarean deliveries. Volume four offers tips for new parents on the transition from hospital to home, contraception, and postpartum blues, as well as early post-natal issues such as breast vs. bottle feeding. Volume five pays special attention to teen moms, moms over 35, and dads. Combining both computer graphics and live footage to provide a fascinating look at the different stages of child development from conception to delivery, the series also draws on interviews with moms from a wide range of ages, races, and economic backgrounds. The enclosed CD-ROM contains a “Baby Book,” complete with printable handouts featuring information presented in the videos, as well as multimedia video chronicling a baby's growth from conception to delivery. An outstanding series that's also a tremendous bargain for the price, this is highly recommended. Aud: H, C, P. (L. Stevens)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
