An Australian production which offers a basic introduction to computers, Square One is divided into three sections: hardware, software, and specialized software. Viewers will learn the differences between a "mainframe," "minicomputer," and "microcomputer;" as well as what the various components of a computer are in the first section. In section two, the narrator aided by good graphics explains how data is recorded on disks and drives, and what the popular software programs are (word processing, spreadsheet, database, etc.). In the final section, viewers see some of the more specialized uses for computers today, including business graphics, CAD/CAM, and accounting software.
