With an estimated 10 billion dollars lost annually by the nation's businesses due to shoplifting and employee theft, there's little question that business owners need to be aware of both problems and their possible solutions. Stop Business Crime: Shoplifting/Employee Theft is a good introduction to the subject, which also offers a number of practical tips owners can use. Using re-enactments, the program demonstrates and discusses the various tactics and techniques employed by both individual and team shoplifters, and then offers specific suggestions to prevent or help cut down on the success rate of shoplifters (the posting of signs concerning shoplifting prosecution, the use of corner mirrors, limited access, etc.). The second half of the program covers employee theft, including merchandise and cash register theft. The tape concludes with some suggestions of what business owners can and cannot do in the event of crime or the suspicion of criminal activities, as well as directions to find out more information about the laws pertaining to one's own state. A good, and needed, program--particularly for small business owners--Stop Business Crime: Shoplifting/Employee Theft is recommended. [Note: a second tape in the series Check Fraud is also available at the same price.] (Available from: Instructional Video, Inc., 727 "O" St., Lincoln, NE 68508; 1-800-228-0164.)
