Whereas Visions Video's Ice (reviewed May 1990) was oriented more toward the general public, their new program (while incorporating footage and narration form the earlier production) is specifically targeted towards rental owners and managers and hotel/motel managers and staff. A brief introduction reiterates both the increasingly widespread use of the new drug "ice", and its dangers to the user and the environment (the impromptu meth labs--often a hotel room or rental apartment--leave toxic residue which occasionally cannot be cleaned up, and the whole edifice must be filled with cement). The balance of the program details specific telltale signs for the intended audience to look for when suspecting meth lab activity: the carrying of boxes to and from the room/apartment, people leaving the room to smoke a cigarette, a general odor similar to that of cat urine, etc. Due to the specific targeted audience, it's questionable whether public libraries (except those, perhaps, who are serving very large communities) need to add this title--especially if they've already picked up the earlier, more general, program. An optional purchase. (Available from: Visions Video Productions, 1505 N. Visscher, Suite P-205, Tacoma, WA 98406.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
