These three programs all use a technique called "Hypnovision" to achieve the desired results. Basically, "Hynovision" consists of a sequence of soothing images over which are laid subliminal messages telling you to relax, stop smoking, lose weight, etc. Does it work? Well, we didn't eat, smoke, or feel jumpy while we watched the programs--the imagery is inviting, the narration is soothing, and while you can occasionally see the messages flashing on the screen they do not unduly detract from the mood. Stress Reduction is actually a cut above many self-help books, and Stop Smoking (with a warning) shows graphic surgical footage which unquestionably leaves a strong impression. Weight Loss, which incorporates footage from the other two programs, is the weakest of the trio, spending more set-up time before it gets to the subject. The question here isn't whether these tapes work (do Dr. Wayne Dyer's books really change anybody's life?), it's whether or not there's a possibility they might. We think the problems the tapes address are significant enough to warrant a try. Recommended. (One title is $29.95, two--$55.00, and all three--$69.00.
