In this dramatized workshop, eight students and their counselor spend the weekend in the mountains at a retreat to learn and practice anger management skills. Divided into three sections, the first part of the tape helps students identify what triggers their anger, as well as alerts them to physical and emotional cues that accompany the anger response. The second segment illustrates that individuals respond to anger in different ways, and acts out possible consequences of being on the giving or receiving end of anger. The final section demonstrates appropriate ways students can deal with their anger. Although this program is designed to teach anger management skills to high school students, I suspect that junior high students (and even adults) could find the program useful as well. The acting is accomplished, the scenarios plausible and realistic, and the teacher's guide includes a program overview, script, handouts and an annotated bibliography of suggested readings. The only drawback is that the items listed in the bibliography are somewhat dated; the majority having been published more than five years ago. Recommended. Aud: J, H. (L. Stevens)
