Professional seamstress Mary Ellen Flury is the host and instructor for this step-by-step sewing workshop. Along with novice Darice Clewell, viewers learn how to tailor a woman's jacket, from recommendations of fabric and supplies to the finished product. Along the way, Flury demonstrates techniques for creating double welt pockets, bound buttonholes, adding shoulder pads, and making sleeve vents. Good use of close-up, and excellent video and audio qualities make this an easy-to-follow program. Not as comprehensive as Couture Techniques: Tailoring (reviewed in our December 1991 issue), Tailoring Ladies Jackets is nevertheless a good direct project workshop. Two other video workshops are also available: Men's Pants and Vest and Tailoring Men's Suits/Sports Coat. Recommended. (Available from: SewPro Workshop, 2315 B Forest Drive, Suite 50, Annapolis, MD 21401; (800) 355-1137.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
