Everyone knows how to run...but not everyone knows how to run fast and well. World class athlete Carl Lewis takes a group of boys and girls and teaches them the basics of good running. Opening with family reminiscences, Carl's mother, sister, and brothers, describe Carl's childhood. A relatively small kid, Lewis made up in determination and technique for what he lacked in size. Passing on his knowledge to the kids, Lewis takes the group through correct posture, arm movement, leg rotation, and more. In addition, psychologist Scott Pengelly discusses the importance of helping kids with sports. In a section primarily aimed at parents, he emphasizes "play" over "performance" and cautions parents to "be fans, not an extra coach." Excellent production credits from opening frame to final fade make this excellent "how-to" fun to watch as well as being a great motivational and technique-oriented approach to improving speed for all sports. Highly recommended. (Available from: Excel Sports Science, Video Division Dept. M, 1400 High St., Suite A1, Eugene OR 97401; 1-800-288-4403.)
