Claire Elson teaches pre-schoolers how to swim in this short, but extremely effective instructional video, which introduces a child to the pool with playful splashes of lukewarm water at home, then progresses through a 3-step week long program. Each step includes names like "alligator" (for sliding in on your belly), "spiderman" (for learning to hold onto the pool side), "motorboat" (for kicking) and "ice cream scoops" (for cupping hands and dishing water). Parents with pre-school children who fear swimming lessons would be hard pressed to find a tape better suited to their needs than this one, which assumes that the parent will take responsibility for teaching swimming to their youngsters and reminds adults that effective education involves enthusiasm, confidence and positive body language from the teacher. An excellent program. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (R. Ray)
