Acrylic fabricator Reu Richards is the instructor in this guide to working with acrylics designed to introduce students to the subject, as well as offer tips for professionals. Host John Butler offers an overview of the subject of acrylics, and then Richards demonstrates sawing; cementing; trimming and finishing; drilling, tapping and reaming; heating and forming; and shows viewers some shopmade tools and offers helpful hints. Because of the nature and properties of acrylic, Richards has had to do extensive modification of existing tools-which gives you the idea that this program is not exactly for the weekend hobbyist. While the subject is interesting, the instruction sound, and the completed projects really beautiful, this is a fairly specialized program, with a pretty rarified price for a "how-to" video. Vo-tech and arts colleges and institutions might want to add this if acrylic work is part of their curriculum. It would be nice for public libraries, but the high price combined with the likelihood of little use, make this an uneconomical purchase. However, decide for yourself, since it is, indeed, an excellent program. (Available from: Acrylic Image Concepts, Inc., 1107 Pueblo, Midland, TX 79705; 1-800-3950963.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
