John Powless, winner of a record 10 U.S. Open Senior Double titles, is the instructor for this tennis guide for seniors. Following a series of stretching exercises, Powless offers tips and techniques on "stroke production" (what you and I would call "hitting the ball back"), the serves, the volley, using the lob shot, and the overhead. The program concludes with some specific tips for doubles play. As is often the case in these sponsored videos, there is an inordinately long amount of time spent on clothing and equipment: shoes, socks, clothing bag, shirt, warm-up pants, jacket, and rackets--all prominently displaying the manufacturer "Prince." Tennis for Seniors With John Powless (called John Powless' Tennis for Seniors on the box) is a fairly average tape in most respects. Seniors will get some useful instruction here, along with a bit of advertising. An optional purchase. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
