An entertaining video that takes young viewers on a step-by-step adventure in house construction, from empty lot to moving (in) day, That's How We Build a House is hosted by onsite workers Gwen and Danny, who introduce plenty of relevant vocabulary along the way (accompanied by graphics and sound effects), while also serving up some funny gags. Opening with pre-building preliminaries involving the surveyor and architect, the program then moves on to the infrastructure: the concrete is poured, the wooden frame is put together, and the roof is attached--all of which will appeal to the dirt-and-trucks audience. Next, viewers discover how the electricity, plumbing, heating/cooling systems, and walls are added, followed by finished exteriors, windows and flooring; fixtures such as lights and toilets; and a nice new yard. It's fun (and amazing) to watch a dirt square grow into a family residence in just six months (distilled down to a half hour here), as well as witness the teamwork that goes into making a house a reality.
