First off, I'm calling out whichever smart-alecky staff member put The Abs Diet Workout into my pile of review titles: as soon as my six-pack abs develop, I'm gonna--as Buddy Ebsen was wont to say to Fess Parker--give 'em what fer, Davy (according to my rough calculations, I should reach my fitness goal the day after Hades experiences permafrost). Based on the New York Times bestselling book The Abs Diet by David Zinczenko, this hour-long workout is hosted by nine-time Ironman champion Tom Holland, who is joined by Tanya and Madison (all three, incidentally, do not have an ounce of fat--baby or otherwise--between them) for a series of beginning, intermediate, and advanced routines (framed by a warm-up and cool-down) designed to tighten that tummy using the "smartest," "fastest" "revolutionary" (natch) system, which--to the naked eye--appears to be comprised of simple exercises (crunches, etc.) and circuit training (using handheld dumbbells) targeting the abdominal (and related) muscles. DVD extras include diet maintenance tips and sample recipes. This is a solid workout aimed right at the soft belly of America, and it's one I intend to get started on right after I finish these cheese fries. Recommended. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
