In all the hype surrounding a presidential campaign (this year's notwithstanding), it's easy to forget that the election of our nation's leader is not just a popularity contest, but rather a process featuring a number of intricate rules and steps that must be followed. Luckily, this fine program offers an "almost" painless guide for the under-18 non-voting crowd, as two voiceover unseen narrators explain political parties ("the elephant and donkey guys"), the history of voting rights, primaries, and the electoral college. Given that the election process isn't just about candidates, the program also looks at the politics behind those also hotly contested non-human propositions on the ballot. The video concludes with a short quiz, providing a good transition into using the extensive curriculum materials supplied with the program. Recommended. Aud: I, J. (E. Gieschen)
