Tired of watching Nick at Nite reruns while your hubby snores in his peanuts? Steaming up your love life can be as easy as pie with two new "dance" titles aimed at igniting a little romantic spark in the old home fires. In The Art of Exotic Dancing For Everyday Women, viewers join grandmother/exotic dancer/instructor Laurie Conrad as she teaches an all-ages class of women the tricks of the exotic dancing trade. Broken down into four sections, Conrad describes and demonstrates sensual walking, hip rolls, floorwork, and a "fun" striptease (no actual nudity is shown), often emphasizing that class participants/viewers should explore their own variations. Featuring excellent instruction, this nicely lensed and edited inspirational ("unlock those arms and roll those hips; we're sisters here!") how-to offers a comprehensive course that is applicable to viewers of all shapes and sizes. DVD extras include behind-the-scenes footage, casting and profiles, and a demo dance from Conrad. Highly recommended. Aud: P.In The Art of Sensual Dance For Everybody, host/instructor Susan Bremer, gentlemen's club worker and "professional flirt," works with a small class of women of various ages and sizes. Divided into three segments, the program begins with self-appreciation exercises (including meditation and massage) concentrating on the positive aspects of one's body and appearance, before segueing into the main instructional segment demonstrating 15 spicy lower and full body dance moves, including "sensual slide," "pelvis roll," "knee jockey," and "coy curtsy." In the final section, viewers are offered tips on removing their clothes, using props (such as wigs and masks), and setting a passionate mood. A little wilder than The Art of Exotic Dancing For Everyday Women, with more graphic moves (although, just as in the other program, without nudity) such as using the breasts for the "turning the dials" technique (don't ask!), this loosely organized, somewhat low-budget looking program also suffers from some shaky camerawork and stilted audio. Still, this is recommended for larger collections as a second choice after the superior and less expensive Goldhil title. Aud: P. (J. Williams)
