The Art of Glass Engraving: The Falcon

When the word "crafts" is mentioned, many people picture women messing around with dead flowers and a smoking glue gun. Well, to fall into the worst of sexual stereotyping, think of this video as Crafts for Guys. Why? Power tools, of course! Dremel tools and electric engravers and safety glasses are required here, and while the urge to create is a human (not a gender) thing, perhaps guys who have been wanting to try their hands at making things of beauty will feel more comfortable with this project. Wayland Cato, our talented presenter, using a falcon as example, demonstrates how to make an engraving from a photo enlargement. All the tools and supplies are carefully listed and their use is explained each step of the way. While there's not a lot of insight into Cato's artistic choices (not easily explained in a thirty minute video format), the program will definitely--although I'm not sure that this is a good thing--get guys (or gals) embellishing the crystal in no time.
