Susan Sirkis, with a little help form "Perky" the cat, demonstrates the art A ribbon crafting, in this informative overview. Beginning with the tools of the trade, Ms. Sirkis selects inexpensive household items (pins, scissors, needles) as well as a few custom designed tools (such as a padded brick) for bringing her colorful ribbon creations to life. A discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of the various mediums (nylon, silk, rayon, and cotton) is followed by specific techniques and applications, such as ruching, making bows and pleats, and creating ribbon roses for wedding bouquets and headdresses. The tape closes with a demonstration of how to make a ribbon sampler. This is a good how-to with its easy-to-follow directions and abundant close-up camera work. Highly recommended.
