For people planning vacations or just armchair travelers, this two-volume guide offers a rich sampling of the sights, as well as a knowledgeable overview of the accommodations and tourist offerings on each of Hawaii's five islands. The first volume opens with an overview of Hawaii, introducing viewers to the history, climate, and general attractions of Hawaii as a whole. The overview is followed by half-hour segments on Oahu and Maui, while the second volume features similar segments on Big Island, Kauai, and Molokai. Bill Van Arsdale provides the interesting narration while the camera covers a wide variety of places and activities: from volcano watching on Maui to skiing on Big Island. Each segment concludes with an informative tour of the area's hotels and restaurants. At the end of each program there is a section advertising the services offered by Vans Arsdale Travel, but these commercials are tastefully done and do not interfere with the content of the programs. Sure to be popular additions to library video travel collections, these excellently produced, gorgeously filmed, and attractively packaged tapes are highly recommended. (Available from most distributors.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
