Designed as an icebreaking/teaching tool for use by parents/educators, The Birds, The Bees, And Me offers an age-appropriate (9-13) introduction to the mysteries of puberty, sex, and childbirth. Presenting virtually identical material for boys and girls (with different gender animation for each tape), the "for girls" version features Sara, a high school/college-age student who offers a light and informal “girl chat”--illustrated by cartoon-type animation--on the physical changes brought on by adolescence in both sexes, making wise sex-related choices, peer pressure, appropriate touching, birth control, and abstinence. In the "for boys" version, all of this information is presented by Jason, who appears to be about the same age as Sara. A fine set for introducing maturation-related material to upper elementary and middle school-aged viewers, this is recommended. Aud: I, J, P. (L. Stevens)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
