There's something irresistibly infectious about Bollywood's over-the-top, kaleidoscope-colored, spontaneous-breaking-into-song style of filmmaking. Nicely capturing that Bollywood vibe, The Bollywood Dance Workout with Hemalayaa features instructor Hemalayaa Behl—a teacher of both Indian Dance and Hatha yoga—who combines Indian traditional dance, belly dance moves, a sort of hip-hop disco fusion called bhangra, and her own freestyle ‘tude to create a playful dance routine guaranteed to keep fitness fans moving and having fun while burning up those calories. The program is divided into short sequences (“Warming,” “Playtime Begins,” “Foot Work,” “Now We're Hot,” and “Playful Dance,” before wrapping up with “Cool It Now!”) that introduce and add steps, successively building into a fairly impressive routine. DVD extras include a dance performance by Behl and her crew. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (N. Plympton)
