Opening scene with three elementary school boys sprawled in the gym: Boy #1: "I can't believe our first play's about a tea party!" Boy #2: "I know! Tea parties are for girls!" Boy #3: "Do you think Mr. Johnson will excuse us from the play for guy reasons?" Boy #2: "Mr. Johnson's a guy." Boy #1: "Yeah, but he's a teacher. They make him do girlie stuff for a living." Gentle reader, believe me, the dialogue and acting only go downhill from there. What we have here is an elementary school musical about you-know-what filled with elementary school-level talent and production values. If watching the untalented and shamelessly mugging children supposedly learning about history isn't bad enough, writer/producer Mr. Johnson's lethargic lecture on the Boston Tea Party will finally reduce you to tears (or zzzz's). If for no other reason than avoiding this title, your Video Librarian subscription has just paid for itself. The denouement consists of our little sexist pigs-in-training learning to appreciate History: "I thought it [Boston Tea Party] was about girlie things--but I see it was about freedom." Read it and weep, and don't say you haven't been warned. Not recommended. Aud: E. (R. Reagan)
