Here's the concept: a board certified psychiatrist/creativity consultant explores the creative process using the metaphors of love, conception, and birth. Here's the result: an overproduced, overlong presentation better suited to textbook format. The basic content is pretty straightforward: creative people live more vital and effective lives; viewers should set goals but remain flexible; when solving problems, we should consider all our options...but it's couched in a litany of psychobabble (creativity occurs at the interface, connect with your anima, and my personal favorite: "suchness"), all delivered in a monotonous drone. To further obscure matters, this commentary is interspersed with stylized, sophisticated graphics (much too complicated to follow without a firm grip on the freeze frame button), and ludicrous warm and fuzzy shots of the presenter sailing, playing the piano, leaning on a hatchet and even taking a shower! Too much medium, not enough message. Not recommended. Aud: C, P. (J. Reed)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
