"We thought when Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973, that was it. We won, and we relaxed. But through the years, as legislation chipped away at the decision, we realized we can never relax." In this unabashedly pro-choice testament to those who serve on the front lines of abortion services, we see that relaxing is far from the minds of people on both sides of this issue. Through vignettes from cities and rural areas around the country, this video examines how increases in anti-abortion legislation, harassment, and violence affect the lives of providers and the women who seek their services. Their stories effectively illustrate that "legal" does not necessarily mean accessible abortion. Though a bit meager on the factual side, the interviews get the job done. Part III of a series (the others are When Abortion was Illegal and From Danger to Dignity [VL-11/95]), this video offers a unique perspective in a tiresome issue, and is recommended if you need more pro-choice materials in your collection. As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
