Written and produced by whitewater World Champion Kent Ford (whose Solo Playboating was reviewed in our July-August 1992 issue), The Kayaker's Edge is essentially an expanded version of the earlier title. Ford and other kayakers emphasize the importance of good balance, good posture, and safety awareness and then demonstrate a wide variety of paddle strokes (forward sweep, reverse, draw, etc.) and boating techniques (like enders and sidesurfing). There's also a fine section on river strategies, which advises viewers what to do in certain potentially dangerous situations. Use of slow-motion scenes and on-screen arrows make it easier to follow what's going on. Overall, the production is very nicely shot and features excellent sound. Highly recommended. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
