This fast-paced introduction to the art of drawing faces, aimed at K-4th grade students, and amiably hosted by instructor Rema Lowrie and a young group, is an enthusiastic and entertaining interactive video. Through the use of colorful graphics and computer-generated special effects, young viewers are first instructed how to use the tape counter and pause controls on the VCR. Part 1 begins with an overview of creativity: how our imaginations can be used to fashion our memories and thoughts into new ideas. Lowrie then teaches the group how to draw the basic face: beginning with an egg shape, then locating the features, finally beginning to draw. She instructs viewers to be aware of the differences between ethnic groups. In Part 2, Lowrie discusses emotions and how our faces change expressions when we're "angry" and when we're "happy". Part 3 shows viewers how to draw the faces of the very young and the very old. This is an excellent introduction to the art of drawing faces for the young. Highly recommended for appropriate libraries. Available from: Centre Productions, 1800 30th St, Suite 207, Boulder, CO 80301.
