As someone who has purchased three "new" pieces of furniture in ten years of marriage, it's astonishing to learn that some people not only re-furnish a whole room at a time, but some will outfit an entire HOUSE at once. The Only Way to Buy Fine Furniture is a guide to shopping for furniture in the North Carolina Piedmont, home to 60% of the nation's furniture manufacturers, and therefore, a mecca for furniture buyers. The tape includes detailed information about preparing for the trip (plan your shopping, prepare your budget, take blueprints, paint chips, and Comfortable Walking Shoes), lists where to shop in Hickory, High Point, and Greensboro, and explains how to arrange for shipping furniture back to your home. The shopping consultant featured in the tape points out that if you save $500-$1,000 on the furniture you buy, you've paid for your trip, but that's probably only true for people in the Eastern U.S. It's a specialized tape for a rather select market (discounts or no, not many people can afford to take that much time off to go shopping for anything) but will probably be welcomed in active consumer collections. Recommended, with reservations. Aud: P. (R. Reagan)
