Very clever scripting and direction turn what could have been yet another pedantic treatment on how to watch other people's kids for fun and profit into an enjoyable learning experience. Four teenage girls (and one teenage boy) tackle such subjects as dealing with emergencies, minor first aid, baby and toddler safety, playtime, snack time, and getting the kids into bed by acting in "The Babysitting Movie," and then commenting on their own performances. It's great fun to watch the film-within-a-film, the information comes across well, and a nice summary at the end includes suggestions for alternative sources of information. The video also comes with an 18-page booklet which offers more detail about the subjects covered. Highly recommended for public and high school libraries. Aud: H, P. (E. Druda)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
