Written and presented by Walter Wangerin Jr., best-selling author of The Book of God and a professor at Valparaiso University, this thoughtful series of six-minute meditations on each of the ten commandments uses a stop-and-discuss format aided by the accompanying booklet of conversation starters. While appropriate for Catholic and mainstream Protestant churches, the combination of Old Testament rules with New Testament teaching places it outside the doctrinal realm of Jewish audiences. Wangerin appears to be addressing his comments to high school and college-age viewers in a rather odd, claustrophobic setting (it looks to be a staircase in Valparaiso University). An optional purchase where appropriate, although viewers would be much better served by the highly recommended set The Ten Commandments (VL-9/00). Aud: P. (R. Reagan)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
