Hosted by John Robbins, this entry in the Cover to Cover series, a reading motivation series focusing on the best in juvenile literature, gives viewers a "taste" of two books....video booktalks, if you will, with cliffhanger endings to peak third and fourth-grade level students' interest. Miriam Schein's Year of the Panda tells the story of a child named Lu Yi, who finds a baby panda in China and cares for it until it can be rescued. In Dolphin Adventure, based on the book by Wayne Grover, a scuba diver is approached by dolphins who need his help. Both stories are presented as abridgements, but they do use the actual illustrations from each book. A quality series which teachers might welcome into their classrooms, and youth services might use for programming. Recommended. Aud: I, P. (C. Dratch-Kovler)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
