Time Out on Anger Management: Learning Self-Control acknowledges that everybody gets angry at times, but reminds young viewers that there are right and wrong ways to deal with anger. After each of four dramatized vignettes of common scenarios in which a child reacts negatively to anger, an energetic youth host discusses a tactic (stop and think, take deep breaths, count to 10, talk) for handling the situation in a positive way, followed by a replay of the vignette in which the child draws on one of the strategies. The emphasis throughout is on separating feeling anger (okay) from acting out in anger (not okay). While the acting in the skits is not exactly stellar, the solid content and smart editing more than compensate. Bundled with a creative and useful print curriculum, this is recommended. Aud: E, I, P.
