Like the phrases "moral politician," "overpaid teacher," or "short-winded video reviewer," being a "working actor" is the rarest of commodities. This competent video seems to be made by aspiring actors for aspiring actors, and includes important information about choosing an agent, auditioning, setting realistic goals and staying positive in the face of rejection. The program relies mostly on talking head interviews with working actors (none of whom I recognized), and would have benefited from more on-the-set day-to-day profiles of real working situations. In addition some of the skits meant to demonstrate various situations an actor may encounter are a bit overlong and ponderous. But I suppose if you're a working actor you don't have time to sit around watching videos about your unemployed brethren, so this is really a video for non-working actors. Stressing enjoyment over fame and knowledge over glamour, this video has its head in the right place and is actor-affordable. Library affordable too. Recommended. Aud: J, H, C, P. (R. Ray)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
