"Work is love made visible" said the Eastern philosopher-poet Kahil Gibran, and while it's clear that he never drove a taxi in the Big Apple for a living, there's a germ of a good idea here, particularly if one is thinking about "How to Attract Volunteers & Keep Them," the first part of this 2-video series presented by author and lecturer Shar McBee. Unfortunately, the production is low budget (much of the footage paired with the voice-over narrated sections is purely arbitrary--such as a long jerky panning shot of a lake), poorly organized, and uncertain as to whether its primary target is secular or religious audiences. The second tape, "Reaching Your Goals," is a little more focused, though time-consuming parade shots and an extended sequence encouraging viewers to stare at running water seem to be slightly off the ostensible subject of putting together a good volunteer program. Not recommended. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
