This low-budget, and admittedly inexpensive, guide to raising tropical fish for personal enjoyment is not one of the slicker productions on the market. It does, however, give viewers the information they need to get started. Using a typical "wrong way/right way" approach to demonstrate what to do and what to avoid (this latter is mostly played for laughs rather than serious information), the program introduces "Angel" who, accompanied by voiceover narration goes shopping for the equipment she needs, learns about the lighting and filters available for aquariums, and returns home to set up the tank and condition the water. The second half of the program deals with fish selection and feeding and maintenance of one's tropical fish and their home. With the exception of some slightly tasteless humor involving dead fish, the jokes are generally tame or lame (or both), but thankfully short. Libraries without similar fare will want to consider this. Recommended. (Available from: Video Trend Associates. 744 Wisconsin St., Oshkosh, WI 54901.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
