Ed Davis and Margo King discuss the basics of car tune-up in this quick, but thorough, tour underneath the hood of a car. Beginning with the necessary tools, mechanic Davis stresses the importance of a visual inspection, and then guides King through the required steps for changing the air filter, PCV valve, radiator hoses, spark plugs, and distributor. One plus of the program is a detailed description of how to replace the points (found in pre-electronic ignition systems, or prior to 1973). The video concludes with instructions for setting the timing, and adjusting the idle speed. Not all of the close-ups are as good as they could have been (shot from the side, instead of directly overhead); but, for the most part, this is a good program: well-paced, knowledgeable, and affordable. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
