The first volume of a projected five-part videocassette series on hunting the wild turkey, Understanding the Wild Turkey is an introduction to the Eastern Wild Turkey, hosted by turkey hunting authority Rob Keck, and produced in association with the Federal Cartridge Company, and the National Rifle Association of America. After a slow start, Mr. Keck gets down to business with how to identify gobblers (male wild turkeys) from hens (female wild turkeys), their needs, both daily and seasonal, lifestyle, behavior, and senses and abilities. As the subject headings indicate, there is a lot of repetitious information in this program. In fact, the entire video could have been done in under 20 minutes and conveyed the same amount of information. Too, there are constant references made throughout the program to a guidebook, which the enclosed tape publishing schedule shows will be released in December 1987, following the other four tapes in the series. Given the amount of information duplicated on this initial volume, we can't begin to imagine what the next four hours hold in store. Recommended only where there is strong demand. (See THE ADVENTURES OF TEDDY RUXPIN for availability).

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
