Dedicated do-it-yourselfers (with Job-like patience), who don't mind getting their hands a little dirty under the hood of their computers in order to save a few dollars in repair bills, will appreciate this training tape in which host Peter Podyma tackles some of the most common hardware issues, including swapping hard and floppy drives, adding RAM, and of course, cracking the ol' case apart to get at the innards of the beast. Unfortunately, a lack of variety in the shots makes this feel even slower than its 70-plus minute running time, and--more importantly--there are not enough close-ups. Still, while not the authoritative volume on the subject, this inexpensive program is more in-depth than Basic Computer Upgrades and Repairs (VL-11/01) and should be considered a strong optional purchase. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
