Hosted by Bob Bertucci and the women volleyball players at Temple University, this program reviews serving, underhand passing, setting, spiking, blocking, digging, and emergency techniques. Each skill or technique is broken into three or four "keys" which are ably demonstrated, first as separate parts by an individual player, and then in drill-format. (Loved seeing a "spike" broken into component parts, and getting a "slo-mo"--if not downright dangerous--view of the awkward positions these players have to assume to accomplish their goals!) Though a bit bare bones production-wise, this tape is straightforward, detailed, plain-speaking, and definitely recommended for those without similar fare, such as Pat Powers' Gold Medal Volleyball (VL-9/98). Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
