While I try to fit in three brisk neighborhood walks a week, it's way too easy to make excuses not to exercise outside (too cold, too wet, I should put on some makeup in case I run into someone I know, etc.). Prevention magazine's Walk Yourself Slim, featuring instructor Michelle Dozois, brings outdoor exercise inside with an aerobic routine that takes basic walking moves and jazzes them up for a fun indoor routine. With three music-backed workout levels to choose from, I--feeling cocky--started with level three but halfway through found myself dropping back to level two as it's quite challenging. Not only a great way to lose unwanted pounds, but according to recent medical news reports, women in their 30s and 40s who walk regularly greatly reduce their risk of breast cancer. How can you beat that? A bonus meal plan booklet is also included. Recommended. [Note: also newly available at the same price in the Prevention magazine series is Flatten Your Belly with Pilates, also featuring Dozois.] Aud: P. (J. Asala)
