Artist Robert Garden enthusiastically talks and paints his way through a seascape, offering techniques and theory as he goes, answering beginner-type questions posed by his wife in this half-hour introduction to the art of watercolor painting. On-screen titles would have enhanced Garden's main points, and the production could have sported better close-ups of his hand holding the brush as he paints. Still, the upbeat tone and makes-it-look-easy demonstration will provide inspiration for many would-be artists who might be too intimidated by formal instruction. For library patrons who are interested in color technique, Color Theory Made Really Easy (see VL-5/96) has more detailed information on the subject. Recommended, with some reservations. Aud: J, H, P. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
