Featuring 10 watercolor lessons by well-known Canadian artist Cim MacDonald, the two-volume Watercolours Outside In, from the artist's local TV series on beginning watercolor, shows viewers how to create a sketch from a landscape or a photograph, and then transform the sketch into art. Tips on selecting pencils, brushes, paper, and different types of paint, are combined with knowledgeable instruction on getting great results. Unfortunately, while the overall content is quite good, the progress through the series is painfully slow (some retakes and serious editing would have helped tremendously), and the variable sound, lack of script, and amateur cinematography underscore the fact this is a low-budget production. An optional purchase. Aud: P. (L. Stevens)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
